Internship
CCA partners with businesses and organizations to offer students hands-on experience through internship—an invaluable step in helping them develop skills better suited for a technical college education. Our student interns have reported being able to to observe procedures, participate in meetings, provide customer service and office support, conduct research, participate in special projects, and more.
During their senior year, CCA students can participate in a mutually beneficial internship between our students and selected local business partners, the program offers students hands-on experience while providing helpful assistance to our business partners. This is an invaluable step in helping students prepare for technical college training or the workplace.
Before beginning the program, students are encouraged to approach internship confidently, professionally, and enthusiastically. Details of the internship experience are at the discretion of the business partner but generally include the following:
- Teaching, training and coaching, while learning a new skill
- Observing and learning by doing a new area of expertise
- Opportunity to ask and have questions answered
- Giving students hands on experience in various career fields
The following types of businesses have provided apprenticeships to CCA students:
HVAC, Sign Company, Auto Mechanics, Auto Body Repair, Heavy Equipment Repair, House Construction, and Landscaping
