History

The response was nothing short of incredible.  Excitement rippled all through the community and area churches.  Even though the school would not open until September of 1996, enrollment for the new school began in February of 1996.  Within four days, over seventy-five signed up and within one week over one hundred.  It quickly became apparent that the demand for Christian education in Lancaster exceeded what Fellowship Bible Church, the church that Dr. Mills pastored, and what Dr. Connor was able to provide.

In the mid-1990’s the city of Lancaster had no private or Christian school.  Several medical doctors, one in particular, Dr. L. S. Connor, and a pastor, Huey A. Mills, had a vision to open a Christian school in Lancaster.  This vision was presented to more than twenty-five area pastors, the sheriff, mayor, professional and business individuals.

The community rallied.  Both individuals and businesses came forward to equip classrooms, computer labs, the lunchroom, etc.  Three thousand five hundred dollars was contributed for each of more than ten classrooms to purchase everything the classrooms would need – chalk boards, bulletin boards, storage cabinets, teacher’s desks and student’s desks.  A funeral home gave ten thousand dollars to equip the computer lab, Wachovia gave a large grant to equip the kitchen and dining area, money was given for a library, etc.  Later a medical doctor gave twelve thousand dollars to equip a science lab and the Coke Company gave a grant of $100,000 to complete the junior and senior high wing.

From the beginning, The Lancaster News gave its editorial endorsement to the formation of a Christian school in Lancaster and has been supportive over the years. Carolina Christian Academy has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top Christian schools in South Carolina, and its seniors have been recognized by the Charlotte Observer as having some of the highest SAT scores in the Charlotte Metro region.

Those of us at CCA are thankful for the continued support of the Lancaster area, and for the good reputation we have in Lancaster and surrounding areas.

Accreditation

CCA offers a quality education that is accredited by three different accrediting agencies. This means that each student, upon completion of the required work, will receive a diploma and transcript that is accepted by a wide variety of colleges and schools around the nation. We believe that academic excellence is a non-negotiable standard, and we strive to meet that standard.

Mission

The two-fold mission of Carolina Christian Academy is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, values, and ethics to excel in life, especially in the areas of college, family, church, society and vocation; and to prepare an army of young Christian patriots who will exemplify, passionately advocate and intelligently defend the Biblical worldview thereby solving our nation’s problems rather than adding to them.

Philosophy

Carolina Christian Academy affirms that this is God’s world. In it, He established three institutions and clearly gave limited areas of responsibility to each. These three institutions are the home, the government, and the church. Each institution is subject to God’s authority and can do well what He ordained it to do. However, when one institution usurps the authority of another and seeks to do what God did not create it to do, it will fail in that effort. This explains why government excels in some areas and fails in other areas.

Government was established to punish those who violate God’s civil laws and to serve and encourage those who observe them, Rom. 13:1-7. God no more gives government the responsibility, the authority or permission to operate the schools than He does to operate the churches. Inasmuch as government’s intrusion into the area of educating children violates the Biblical parameters given to it, and inasmuch as giving a child a secular education violates the Biblical command to train up a child in the way he ought to go, CCA does not allow part time students to split their studies between Christian and non-Christian schools.

The home and the church are the only two institutions that God has ordained to teach. Please read Deut. 6:6-9; Matt. 28:18-20; and 2 Tim. 2:2; 3:15-17. Carolina Christian Academy affirms that children receiving a Christian education at home or at a Christian school, are the only two Biblical options.
