K3-4
Overview
Your child’s wonderful educational journey begins with CCA’s three and four-year-old classes, and is a cohesive, well-crafted experience through 12th grade graduation. Each division has unique characteristics that prepare each student for what comes next. From age 3 through the end of their senior year, students follow a journey that has been tested, proven, refined, and has evolved to meet the needs of an ever-changing world over the course of our 30-year history.
At CCA, we know that the early years before kindergarten are filled with wonder, curiosity, and discovery. That’s why our K3 and K4 programs are designed to spark your child’s love for learning in a warm, nurturing environment. Through hands-on, play-based experiences, our dedicated teachers encourage little learners to create, explore, and grow—building confidence and essential skills across social, emotional, academic, physical, and spiritual areas. With a faith-integrated, multi sensory approach, we help children develop a strong foundation, so they enter kindergarten with excitement, readiness, and a lifelong passion for learning.
It can be difficult for parents to know when their children are ready for school and what challenges they will face along the way. Our goal is to partner closely with each family to provide a supportive, responsive environment, meeting each child where he or she is. We understand that nothing is more important than giving your child a strong start. You also want to make sure his or her first classroom experience is a positive one, so he or she can develop a love for learning from the start. Our youngest learners thrive in a safe and nurturing environment, with endless opportunities for hands-on exploration. Experiential learning fosters their natural curiosity and keeps them engaged as they develop kindergarten readiness skills.
Inside our preschool classrooms, your child will:
Build Literacy, Pre-Reading, and Writing Skills
Through nursery rhyme studies, story time, and songs, children develop essential pre-literacy and writing skills. Students also enjoy a designated library time each week when the school’s librarian visits and reads a story from a variety of literature genre.
Explore Creativity Through Art
Art is an essential part of early childhood development, allowing children to express themselves, develop fine motor skills, and engage in hands-on creative exploration. Each week, preschool students participate in a dedicated art time where they experiment with different materials, colors, and textures to bring their imaginations to life. Whether painting, sculpting, or crafting, children build confidence and creativity while discovering the joy of artistic expression.
Gain Math and Science Skills
Students are actively engaged in hands-on learning experiences as they explore math and science concepts through various centers, interactive activities, and oral discussions with their teacher. Regular STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity.
Engage in Faith Formation
Prayer and discussions about God’s beautiful creation are woven throughout the entire learning experience. Daily Bible stories and prayer time help children develop a foundation of faith while encouraging kindness, gratitude, and wonder.
Practice Healthy Social-Emotional Interactions
Teachers guide children in learning conflict resolution and restorative practices, helping them build strong, healthy relationships with their peers. Through structured activities and free play, children develop empathy, communication skills, and respect for others in a caring, supportive environment.
Develop Through Physical Education
Daily outdoor play allows children to run, climb, and develop gross motor skills while learning cooperation and teamwork. Once a week, each preschool class has a special session with a physical education teacher, providing structured activities that enhance coordination, balance, and physical confidence.
Learn Listening, Counting, and Words With Music
Music is an integral part of early childhood learning. Children regularly sing songs, move to music, and play rhythm instruments in class, reinforcing skills like listening, counting, and language development. Additionally, they attend a dedicated music class once a week with a music teacher, where they explore melodies, beats, and creative movement.
Healthy Bodies, Happy Minds
Students enjoy balanced, nutritious meals in the Wachovia Commons & Patio—a vibrant hub for eating, friendships, and fun. On sunny days, children dine outside on the colorful patio, enjoying both nourishment and community.
Field Trips & Exploration
Our youngest “Cougars” travel comfortably on a modern, air-conditioned motor coach to exciting destinations—zoos, pumpkin patches, fire stations, and more. Parents are welcome to join the fun!
Age-appropriate technology
While we integrate some virtual learning experiences for our preschoolers, social and emotional learning is prioritized over screen time.
Our preschoolers also enjoy plenty of time outdoors and outside the classroom, whether on our playground, in the gym, or in the Wachovia Commons.
Experienced, Dedicated and Caring Teachers
All of our early childhood teachers are passionate about fostering a love of learning in every child. Our small class sizes—an 8:1 student-to-teacher ratio in the 3’s Program and a 12:1 ratio in the 4’s—allow for personalized attention. Our teachers are committed to building strong relationships with students and families, maintaining open communication to support each child’s growth and development.
Dedicated Teachers & Parent Partnership
Our teachers not only instruct and model a grace-filled Christian life at school, they partner with parents. With frequent communication through newsletters and emails, parents stay connected and informed. Events like Grandparents’ Breakfast, Christmas concerts, and Thanksgiving meals strengthen the bond between school and family. At CCA, education is a true partnership built on trust. Parents are invited to be part of the journey every step of the way.
