Daily Procedures

Drop Off/Pick Up

The entrance near the flags will be locked from 7:40 to 8:05. As all schools do, we have to limit drop-off to a designated and supervised area. End doors near playground are emergency exits only and are never used. Cubby Care children (infants – age two) must be brought to and picked up from their room. Those who do so may use the exterior door in each of those rooms or the carline doors. However, between 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 – 3:30 p.m. those who do so must park in a parking space on the parking lot.

Daily Routine

Infants

While every baby is unique, they all share the common need for consistency and responsiveness in their care-giving. At Cubby Care, our infants control their own daily schedule based on their particular preferences and patterns. The caring and nurturing teachers at Cubby Care closely monitor each individual infant’s eating, sleeping, and play patterns to determine the most appropriate and non-stressful daily schedule for your child. Between three and six months of age, most infants will start to establish a more consistent daily schedule that suits them best. For infants who are six to twelve months, we aim to provide them with a smooth routine that balances active and quiet play to reduce stress and avoid drastic changes.

We will spend time with each child, looking for opportunities to share Bible phrases and conversation, sing a song, look at books, etc. We will talk to them during diaper changes and feeding, sharing with him a warm smile, soft touch, and gentle words.

Sleeping

To reduce the incidence of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), most doctors recommend infants under the age of one to be placed on their backs to sleep. Infants will be placed on his/her back to sleep unless a doctor’s note is presented stating otherwise. Nothing will be permitted in the crib with the child except a small blanket below the chest. No bottles are permitted in the crib. Pacifiers are permitted but may not be attached to the child in any way. Infants will only be in a crib for sleeping or for a brief moment of quiet play time.

Nap mats will be provided for children in the ones and twos class. Parents will need to provide a small pillow and blanket. There are many websites that offer nap mat covers that are more comfortable than just the plastic mat. The blankets and covers will be sent home weekly to be laundered and returned.

Cleaning

Crib sheets and bedding are changed, washed and provided daily for your baby when they are in our care. All toys are sanitized on a daily basis. Mats will be cleaned and sanitized and stored separately in the classroom. Cubby Care takes pride in providing your child with the cleanest environment possible. We are always looking for areas that we need to improve.

Feeding, Eating, and Drinking

Cups, bottles, lids, and other items are to be labeled with your child’s name. Infants will be fed in accordance with a time schedule, specific food and beverage items and quantities specified by the parent. Infants will be held while being bottle fed until they are able to hold their own bottles. Bottles will not be propped or given in cribs or on mats. Breast milk may be sent daily in bottle bags with name, date, and amount written on them. Parents may send a week supply of breast milk that will be stored in the freezer. Bags must be prepared for the serving portion desired by parent. Caregivers may not prepare bottles beyond placing bag in bottle and warming. Unused refrigerated breast milk bottles will be returned to parent at the end of the day.

Baby formula, juice, and food served in a bottle must be prepared, ready to feed, identified, and packaged for single use for your child. Any excess formula, juice, or food will be discarded after each feeding. When preparing bottles for the day, we ask that you bring two extra bottles for the day in case of emergency. These bottles will be kept refrigerated and returned to you at the end of the day if not needed. Bottles, cups, bowls, spoons, etc. will be rinsed and returned for proper cleaning by parent along with child’s belongings.

Parents will need to pack all the child’s food for each day. An ice pack is preferable in the lunch box to keep food fresh. Microwaves are available in Cubby Care in the infants and ones class. Children in the two year old class will travel to cafeteria for snack and lunch and there will be no microwave available for warming food. Parents are given the option of ordering food from the cafeteria, which includes hot foods, or lunchboxes may be sent. Children will need at least two snacks, and lunch. If you are dropping off your child early, please include breakfast. Cups, bowls, utensils, etc. will be rinsed and returned for proper cleaning by parent along with child’s belongings.
